Space is an end-to-end engineering system.
Reliable space services depend on far more than a launch vehicle. A working architecture brings together payloads, communications, ground infrastructure, mission software, operations, regulatory requirements and lifecycle management. Each layer creates different risks and validation needs.
What we study
- Spacecraft and payload architectures: power, thermal management, onboard computation, attitude control and interface requirements.
- Ground-to-orbit communications: spectrum constraints, link availability, resilient gateways and operational continuity.
- Autonomy and orbital robotics: sensing, navigation, fault detection and safe operation in constrained environments.
- Space sustainability: debris mitigation, lifetime planning, cybersecurity and realistic maintenance assumptions.
Engineering and program gates
Before evaluating a space opportunity, identify the mission need, interfaces, regulatory dependencies, technology maturity, test evidence and total operating cost. A public research program or a published mission is not a BOUCHMAL partnership or awarded contract.
For technical context see our independent intelligence briefs and European program directory.
